Beautiful sideboard by G Plan, one of the very best of the English mid-century furniture makers.
With quality teak veneer, solid afromosia door pulls, and a sculptural solid wood base, this is a superbly made piece, built in the 1960s or ‘70s.
Part of the “Fresco” range, designed by G Plan in response to the Danish furniture coming into the UK in the ‘60s, this buffet/credenza is now one of the most desirable and collectable of the era.
Lots of exquisite and quirky details, like the wide drawer pulls in the much-loved “smile” design and the cutlery drawer (baize-lined with removable divisions).
Originally designed for the dining room, it would have many uses around the home. Some age related wear, top has been sanded back and refinished.
The best of Danish-style design combined with fine English craftsmanship, loads of storage in this seven foot long beauty.
One just like it has even made a guest appearance in Season 6 of Madmen.
